PROGRESS REPORTS: "Last Friday, November 15, 2024 marked the halfway point of the second quarter of the 2024-25 school year. Therefore, progress grades are issued to give students and their parent/guardians an overview of their overall performance thus far in the grading period. Please refer to the Parent and/or Student Portal to view your student's "2nd Quarter Progress Report." From the Main Menu, select Documents > "2nd Qtr Progress Report" for the current school year. IF YOUR STUDENT IS RECEIVING A D OR F ON THIS REPORT, THEY MAY BE AT RISK OF FAILING. Your student is considered academically ineligible and may not participate in sports if he/she has a GPA of less than 2.0, has 2 F's, 2 INC's or an F & an INC on their report card. California Healthy Kids Survey: "Dear Parent or Guardian: We want your child to have the best school environment possible. One way of doing that is to anonymously survey our students and get their honest opinion on what it is like to be in their shoes. If your child is in 9 th or 11 th grade, they are being asked to participate in the California Healthy Kids Survey (CHKS), developed and sponsored by the California Department of Education (CDE). This very important anonymous survey will help our district promote better health and well-being and improve your child's school learning environment with programs such as Mental Health Wellness Centers, Friday Night Live programs, Mentoring, and Tobacco Use Prevention Education. Survey Content: The survey gathers information on your child's connectedness to their school and potential barriers to learning. The survey also gathers information related to your child's health such as physical activity, nutritional habits, alcohol, vaping/tobacco and other drug use, risk of depression and suicide, and protected class identifiers: sexual orientation and gender identity. The results from this survey are compiled into district- and county-level CHKS Reports. To view a copy of your district's report, go to https://calschls.org/reports-data/search-lea-reports/ (Outside Source) and type in the district name or Bret Harte Union High School District. It is Voluntary. When you give your student permission to participate, they can skip any question they do not want to answer. The rest of the survey is still valid. They may also stop taking the survey at any time and for any reason. It is Anonymous. The surveys are administered electronically at school and are completely anonymous- no names are recorded or attached to the survey or data. Any questions with less than 10 respondents are discarded. Please remind your child that this is their voice and there is no way to single out their answers.The survey will be administered the week of December 2, 2024. INCLEMENT WEATHER NOTICE: "Hello Bret Harte Families, The weather forecast this week indicates that we may have some challenging weather. I wanted to remind you of our decision-making process for school delays and closures related to weather. Our Transportation Director and administration will be monitoring weather conditions and the impact on our transportation routes. Determinations will be made as soon as possible but likely occur in the early mornings, the day of. As a District, we look to avoid canceling school whenever feasible. We know that students need the continuity of learning and scheduling makeup days can be challenging. In general, we do not cancel school unless the event directly impacts the campus in Angels Camp. However, we may cancel bus transportation to select geographic areas and will work with families when this happens. To keep students and staff safe, we will be diligent in our decision-making and send out information via email, the BH App, phone, and social media as soon as a decision is made. MEETING NOTICE: "Good Afternoon, Parent and community involvement is vital to the success of our students! The Curriculum Committee meets monthly and serves in an advisory capacity to the District's Superintendent and Governing Board in all matters of curriculum development, including revisions, additions, and/or deletions to the courses of study, as well as textbooks requested by teachers. FFA UPDATE: "On Wednesday, November 13th we will be holding our 3rd FFA meeting of the year which will begin at 7pm in the theater. Topics discussed at this meeting will be committee reports, Cow Pie Social wrap up, and state convention applications. Additionally we will be announcing the 2024-2025 greenhand officer team and conducting our chapter degree ceremony. The Chapter FFA degree is the highest award that we can bestow on our members and is earned during the second or third year of membership in our chapter. If you are a parent/guardian of one of the chapter degree recipients, you will receive a separate invitation email. Other events/reminders as they approach are listed below: • MANDATORY Parent and Exhibitor meeting for all Sheep, Goats, Hogs, Poultry and Rabbit exhibitors is Wednesday 12/12 at 5:30 p.m. in the Multi-Purpose Room. ATHLETIC CANCELLATIONS: Due to an unplanned power outage, the following practices have been canceled for today Monday, November 04, 2024: boys basketball, girls basketball, boys soccer, and wrestling. Girls soccer, volleyball, and water polo practices will proceed as planned unless otherwise directed by head coaches.

ONLINE TICKETING: Bret Harte is set to host the Division V Sac Joaquin Section quarterfinal game tonight. The Bullfrogs will host the Mariposa Grizzlies in the Bob Bach Gymnasium. The match will begin at 6pm and doors open at 5pm. Tickets can be purchased exclusively through GoFan. Bret Harte athletic passes and ASB stickers will not be honored.
