Bret Harte Union High School's committees are comprised of students, faculty, parent/guardians, administrators and community members who work together to develop, monitor, and improve our school.

COMMITTEES

CLIMATE AND CULTURE COMMITTEE

The Climate and Culture Committee, previously know as the Discipline Committee, is a group of teachers, parent/guardians and administrators who discuss school efforts to improve student attendance, behavior, and review the student handbook. Meetings will be held in the Learning Center Conference Room beginning at 3:15 PM. Occurs two to three times per school year.

CURRICULUM COMMITTEE

The Curriculum Committee meets monthly and serves in an advisory capacity to the District’s Superintendent and Governing Board in all matters of curriculum development, including revisions, additions and/or deletions to the courses of study, as well as textbooks requested by teachers. Meetings will be held in the Learning Center Conference Room beginning at 3:15 PM. Occurs monthly, September - May, and committee members serve one-year terms.

ENGLISH LEARNER ADVISORY COMMITTEE (ELAC)

Bret Harte's English Learner Advisory Committee provides parents of English learners opportunities to learn more about the programs offered to their students, and participate in the school's needs assessment of students, staff and parent/guardians. Meetings will be held in RM 53 beginning at 5:00 PM. Occurs two to three times per school year.

SAFETY COMMITTEE

Occurs two to three times per school year.

SCHOOL SITE COUNCIL

Bret Harte's School Site Council is group of teachers, parent/guardians, administrators, and interested community members charged with reviewing and approving the school's Single Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA), including the school budget. It is a legally required decision-making body for any school receiving federal funds. Meetings will be held in the Learning Center Conference Room beginning at 3:15 PM. Occurs bi-monthly, September - March.
